Welcoming Tony Fransos to Avandra!

At Avandra, we are committed to building a team of exceptional people who combine deep technical expertise with practical, client-focused thinking. It is therefore with great pleasure that we welcome Tony Fransos to the Avandra team.

Our Directors, Nicole Vukic and Mary Haverland, have had the privilege of working with Tony for more than 15 years, and throughout that time have truly valued his experience, exemplary technical expertise and sensible approach to transport planning, demand forecasting and engineering. Few professionals bring the depth of knowledge, thoughtfulness and analytical rigour that Tony consistently demonstrates in every project he undertakes.

Tony joins Avandra with an extraordinary 48-year career spanning transport planning, traffic engineering, demand forecasting, business case development, public transport planning, freight and logistics, pedestrian modelling and major infrastructure advisory work. Over nearly five decades, he has contributed to some of Australia's most significant transport and infrastructure projects, as well as major projects internationally across Sri Lanka, India, South Africa and the United Kingdom.

His experience includes work on landmark projects such as the Melbourne Airport Rail Link, Western Harbour Crossing, Moreton Bay Rail Link, Central Station Precinct Renewal Project, Toowoomba–Brisbane Passenger Strategic Rail Business Case, and numerous major road, rail and precinct planning initiatives across Australia.

Tony is particularly recognised for his expertise in transport demand forecasting and modelling, including assessing uncertainty, identifying key demand drivers and helping clients make informed, evidence-based investment decisions. His ability to combine technical excellence with practical judgement makes him a trusted adviser to both project teams and decision-makers.

Beyond his technical achievements, Tony has built a reputation as a mentor, thought leader and respected voice within the profession. He has presented papers at national and international conferences, written extensively on transport planning and modelling, and maintains a keen interest in the relationship between urban development and infrastructure.

At Avandra, we truly value the rich experience, knowledge and capability that Tony brings to our business. He is a brilliant addition to the team and will provide invaluable mentoring and technical guidance to our consultants. The depth of insight developed throughout his 48-year career will strengthen our capability across transport planning, engineering, modelling and strategic advisory services.

We are also excited to continue expanding our presence across the country, with Tony based in Melbourne. His appointment further enhances our ability to support clients nationally while bringing local expertise to projects throughout Victoria and beyond.

Please join us in welcoming Tony to Avandra. We are delighted to have him on board and look forward to the expertise, leadership and perspective he will bring as we continue helping our clients solve complex transport and infrastructure challenges.

Welcome to the team, Tony!
